Question RDP from Vista to XP freezes XP after disconnect

My client bought a Vista box after not reading my recommendations properly. Grrr!

Anyway, I can RDP from the Vista Business to XP Pro but after I disconnect the XP Pro freezes and a reboot is required to get it working again.

I have upgraded to RDP 6.0 on XP Pro, but it made no difference - as expected.

Both computers are on the same network.

Has anyone come across this and found a solution? I have trawled through MS support and knowledgebase but couldn't find any answers there...

I just tried it using a VM for XP Pro, and I'm on Vista Ultimate. Rmote Desktop into it from Vista then disconnected no freezes from XP was able to get in then RD again into it.

No updates bare install of XP SP2.

So I can't reproduce the error you are getting.

    Hm. Thanks for testing.

I'm using default settings on both PCs. I do get a message on Vista when I connect that says that it doesn't recognise the PC because it is an older OS (XP), but it allows me to connect anyway. Are you using default settings too, logic_earth?

    Anyone else seen this happen?

I'm am, the only thing I change was turning on remote desktop on the XP and setting "Limit local account use of blank passwords to console logon only" to disable.

(Allows empty passwords to be used via remote logins instead of local logins only.)

OK. Does that mean anyone can log in?

I'll have to look at the settings again and experiment.

    Thanks again logic_earth...
