    Try this:
    http://support.intel.com/support/chi.../CS-009241.htm

Also, you might want to download/install any software for your motherboard. I can help you find it if you post the model number here.

If by chance, it's a Dell, if you post the service tag number, I can look up the specs of the system and see what software you'd need.

I recently had the same problem,

I have 7600GS, in device manager, I could see nvidia 7600GS installed,

but the problem was that, device manager was showing a missing video controller,

I tried many things to get rid of it, but i failed to find drivers for this missing thing.

then I got the solution, this was actually the built in video card in mother board, I have intel 915 GAV, and I tried to disable built in video card but I didn't found any option.

so, I went to intel website, downloaded the video controller, installed it, after installation, I finally got rid of that missing device,

in the end I disabled the built in video card from devece manager

    This happened here too.

Inherited a computer with a dvd rom (a P2), was able to watch dvds, then had to change the hard drive, moved and installed the DVD -rom on another computer, re-installed Windows and was no longer able to watch DVDs.

Looked into the matter on the net, installed codecs and all that, nothing worked. Looked into the DVD-rom manufacturer's website and nothing.

Still can't watch the dvds with the DVD-Rom, don't know what to do. Only thing I haven't tried is to buy the software to do so, haven't found free software that work.
