Setting root password MySQL
Hi
I feel a bit daft as I can't seem to get passed p21 of Database Driven Website by Kevin Yank. But I'm learning
Ive got the latest copy and and want to follow it through to see what i can learn (lots I'm sure)
Im on a mac osx and am trying to set the root password. He says to do this using terminal in the bin directory of my MySql installation.
Where is it? i know basics about getting round terminal i.e changing directories and stuff.
Can someone help?
Many thanks
scotty
if you are unable to change ur Mysql password, then run ur mysql setup again, while installing Mysql, you will see a option to set the root password
Reinstalling is kind of like swatting flies with a shotgun. All he needs to do here is find MySql.
I really don't use macs, so I have no idea where it would land by default. Probably under applications. You should be able to browse around in finder to figure out where she lives.
in windows, MYSQL by default install here
C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 4.1\bin
don't know about mac
