Run of Site and backlinks question
Hello all,
From what I understand, Google doesn't like run of site links.
Yet, when I look at my competitor's Google Backlinks, all of the pages listed are interior pages of sites that have site-wide links.
For example:
Competitor designs site for client and slaps their link on the bottom of every page of the site.
Google indexes the site and adds one of the interior pages of the site as a Google Backlink.
I only link back on the client's homepage. (no Google BLs for me)
Is there something I missed? Bad luck?
What do you think?

I don't think run of site is a terrible thing, so long is we are not dealing with a bunch of paid links, or some sort of extensive SEO ploy meant to manipulate results.
I might add that you should look at the footer of this page.
Doesn't seem to be an issue with SitePoint.PHP Link Directory Script -easy to create and profitable too

They may recognize the links but it doesn't mean they have any real value.
