Whenever I log onto an Earthweb site, sometimes I'll get a pop-up asking me to subscribe to thier newsletter. It also says that if I have cookies enabled, I won't see that pop-up again.

I want to be able to do that at my site, I pretty much hate pop-ups, but I want some subscribers to my rather bleak newsletter.

Can someone point me in the right direction so I can learn what it is I need to learn to be able to do this?

This outlines how to do it in ASP but it should at least give you ideas on how to implement it if you don't have ASP access.

I checked that out and its sorta greek to me, know somewhere that'll give to me so's I can understand?

I'm a little handicapped in that this is a new area for me. If I have to, i'll do the pop-up without the cookie. (would rather not though)

For an overall good knowledge of how to run an ezine (it also covers what you just asked about) read the "Guide to E-zine Publishing" courtesy of Matt at http://www.webmaster-resources.com/a...zinepub.shtml.

If you still have problems, I'd be willing to help you or set it up for you in exchange for credit and links of course. Just email me if you have any questions (take out the "nospam" part of my email address), as a discussion about trading services is not allowed in this forum.

OK, that worked well, now i would like to put an expire date into the cookie. I saw a spot where that might go but my inexpeience tells me to ask first.
