    150,000 Uniques A Month On A Movie Site - How To Monetise?

    I'm the webmaster of this new site -
    <snip>
    It covers movie news and movie humor. In the last month we've had 150,000 uniques and 200,000 page views.
    Google adsense isn't paying well. What are the best alternatives for a site like this?

    Also we tend to get surges when we break news. So some days it's getting very heavy traffic, other days it's quiet (at least for the moment - it's a new site). How will that erratic pattern factor in?

    Many thanks.

    What's your user demographic? If people who come to your site are there because they are interested in movies, then you should be able to target your advertising to those types of people. For example, go to commission junction and grab some affiliate ads for online movie sites like amazon or netflix.

    Pre-rolls should earn you some nice change. Check out inline text too.

    You should try kontera + Adsense.

    Since your URL was removed *rolls eyes* it is hard to give you an accurate answer.

    For good ideas, go to shoemoney.com and johnchow.com. They are bloggers who seem to have a good handle on it. Read Chow's blog especially, because he makes money by showing people how me makes money.

    Google adsense doesn't pay that well because the ads are too boring, and too typical. Ads should look nice and interesting.

    You can get ads just about anywhere. Just go to a slew of sites and ask them if they would like to advertise with you.

    Also, have you checked out competing sites and sent an e-mail to the advertisers there?

    Don't worry about what advertisers may think of your up and down traffic. Many of them already know it is normal, and expected.

    May I ask how you got that many hits, and how long it took?

    You should take a look at Triggit for placing shopping.com ads intext (they pay by the click) and Amazon. If your audience converts those two programs can be very lucrative. Since you have a targeted audience it might work really well for you.

    Good luck

    Because they are boring, typical ads.
