    Changing 1000's of urls

we're in the process of moving a site over to a new CMS. this will involve about 4000 urls changing. the "old" version of the site is about 3 years old and has decent PR and traffic that we desperately want to keep.

what's the best way to go about this - just "delete" the old site, implement 301 redirects for all pages and keep your fingers crossed? what kind of effects can we expect in the SERPS?

Definitely do a 301 but do not expect instant gratification. It can take a while for them to kick in and no redirect is perfect. You'll almost certainly take a hit in the SERPs. After making the switch cross your fingers and be very patient.

That's what I did when I switched to a new CMS and I didn't notice any problems with SE traffic.

if change the URL it will effect on SE. In SEP will get lots of broken link. So only way is keep old and NEw. For geting PR for new willl take time. So can avoid Broken links
