How many ad companies do you use?

I'm currently using Kontera + Adsense and I've used YPN in the past, but I don't run YPN ads on any of my sites anymore - since the earnings suck now, and I don't feel like testing YPN again.

    I use 2 ad companies.

I use some Adsense only. I think nothing else pays more.

I use about 6 on each site - different chains on each depending on what performs better.

I use three, rotating and in a chain depending on what makes sense. Only one I've had a sour experience with is Vizi Direct. They sent really crappy ads that degraded my site and then skipped out without paying.

I'm currently using about 8 active ones, plus my direct ads. I used to just rely on Adsense and Tribal Fusion for most of my ad traffic, plus my directs. Over the last couple of months I've diversified and seen a huge increase in my income. Wish I had done it years ago.

Scoopyboy. hasn't the change in the AdSense ads hurt your earnings? Just curious, cause they hurt mine and several other publishers. I just dropped them from the rotation. My eCPC went from .27 to .06. They sure know how to kill a good product.

    OK this got my attention...

    Everyone is talking about rotating?

I guess this means randomly rotate ads on pages, from different companies?

    Why and how?

If you do and have an increase, how much? % or otherwise?

Any good free software for this? Or do you suggest just throwing in a random script and let it pick the company for that page?

    Nice topic.

Use OpenAds (formally PHPADSNEW). Rotation my networks usually weekly. Recently dropped Google's Nonsense and Yahoo's Publisher Network. Using seven networks now, plus direct adverts.

I installed that and did some testing... it slows down my page load time by like +3-6 seconds?

Enable Iframes. It won't slow your site down.

Man... you are quick to reply.

Don't Iframes hinder adsense ability to read page content? I've also read its against TOS.

Doesn't work that way. You can't put adsense in a frame with no content.

You are in violation of the TOS.

    Is this wrong?

here is another page specifically dealing with IFRAMES to differentiate between frames and iframes.

    adsensebits.com/node/16

    From: AdSense
    Hello [name],

Thanks for your inquiry regarding displaying ads in IFRAMEs.

AdSense participants are not allowed to alter any portion of the ad code or change the layout, behavior, targeting, or delivery of ads for any reason, and thus may not employ IFRAMEs to display the ad code. In order to comply with our policies, please place the AdSense ad code directly into the source code of your content pages.

    We appreciate your understanding.

I've been using iframes since 97 without a problem. Though, you may want to get a better updated answer directly from Google if you want to be sure. Seen plenty of other sites use iframes also. Myspace (Google ad partner) uses iframes. CNET uses iframes. etc.
