    Lightbox with form

    Hi Guys,

I am looking for a lightbox type thing to take user data from a form and pass it to the server for manipulation (I'm think ajax will be needed).

Does anyone know of any good ones.

The ones I have found so far promise so much and deliver very little.

Any help would be much appreciated.

What, and you want this lightbox script to handle everything for you? You'll have to do a bit of scripting yourself for this, most likely.

I know that Thickbox supports getting content via Ajax, so it must also allow you to send stuff via Ajax.

Ajax isn't needed to submit a form in a lightbox like environment. The important question is what task do you want the form to accomplish? There are two main tasks forms do, enter data to a db for you to act on later (signup for a newsletter) or gather information for your app to act on now (convert currency). Depending on what you want to do the the choices of to ajax or not or even if using a lightbox like environment to serve the form or not change.

I would like to do something very similar I think.

I hacked something together for another site I was working on, but I'd really like to use a 'proper' solution, as my code ended up very specifically written to solve the task. It would be nice to have something I could just plugin and use again.

What I want to do is simply have a basic form text field, if the user submits the form I want it to check for errors. If errors are found return to the lightbox form showing the error, alternatively show a success message and a link to close the form.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Tom

How do you define an error?
