    Lost css

    While editing site (including css) the css stopped functioning.
    Works on my desktop, and works on another site (same content and css) but won't work on http://freetutorials.name. I don't understand, because it was working and works on the other site. All I changed was "banner" to "header" in the css and on the pages, because of the problem with the name (some antiviruses don't like the name "banner")
    here is the css

    * {
    margin: 0;
    padding: 0;
    }
    body {
    background-color: #FAEBD7;
    font-family: "Times New Roman", Times, serif;
    font-size: 14px;
    color: #000000;
    padding: 10px;
    }
    a:hover {
    color: purple;
    background-color: white;
    font-weight: bold
    }
    #header {
    text-align: center;
    border:1px solid darkblue;
    background-image: url(../Images/2R131.gif);
    background-repeat: no-repeat;
    background-position: 5px center;
    }
    #header b {
    display: block;
    min-height: 120px;
    background-image: url(../Images/3C331.gif);
    background-repeat: no-repeat;
    background-position: right center;
    margin: 0 5px;
    padding: 0 200px;
    font-weight: normal;
    }
    * html #header b {
    height: 120px;
    }
    #banner h2 {
    color: #FF0000;
    font-size: 180%;
    margin-bottom: 10px;
    }
    #homelink {
    float: left;
    width: 64px;
    height: 17px;
    background-image: url(../Images/ltblue-button.gif);
    margin-top: 7px;
    font-size: 1px;
    color: #428afc;
    }
    #testlink {
    float: right;
    width: 64px;
    height: 17px;
    background-image: url(../Images/lt_blue-button.gif);
    margin-top: 7px;
    font-size: 1px;
    color: #3c8ffc;
    }
    h3 {
    text-align: center;
    color: #FF0000;
    line-height: 30px;
    font-size: 130%;
    }
    .leftcol {
    float: left;
    width: 49.5%;
    border: 1px solid darkblue;
    margin-bottom: 5px;
    }
    .rightcol {
    float: right;
    width: 49.5%;
    border: 1px solid darkblue;
    margin-bottom: 5px;
    }
    .leftcol a, .rightcol a {
    margin-left: 5px;
    line-height: 1.5ex
    }
    .leftcol dt, .rightcol dt {
    padding-top: 3px;
    }
    .leftcol dd, .rightcol dd {
    padding: 2px 5px 2px 20px;
    }
    .leftcol b, .rightcol b {
    display: block;
    padding: 2px 5px 2px 20px;

    .clear {
    clear: both;

    Question No styles in header

    Looking between the <head> tags there are no styles. You need to put them there.
    Code HTML4Strict:
    <HEAD>
      <TITLE>Free Tutorials and training courses</TITLE>
      <LINK REL="alternate" TYPE="application/rss+xml" TITLE="ROR" HREF="ror.xml" />
      <META NAME="description" CONTENT="Free Tutorials and Training Courses with over 400 tutorials on over 25 major subjects. including computer, education, web design, computer training, antivirus, photo, free spyware removal">
      <META NAME="keywords" CONTENT="free tutorials,freetutorials,spyware,spyware remover,web hosting,affordable web hosting,business web hosting,free,software,free software,education,jobs,job search,job listing,online education,file transfer,computer, electronics,web design,web site design,web page design,computer training">
      <META HTTP-EQUIV="Content-Type" CONTENT="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />
      <META NAME="AUTHOR" CONTENT="NavyFalcon1(at)yahoo.com">

    This is one of the css pages ("FTP") the index page is still table layout. I am changing to css slowly (as I am learning) and have over 100 pages.
    You can see that the styling for the page is not working but on the other site it does work and I made sure the code (total content) was the same.
    Thank you for all your time and effort
    hope this helps

    You won't, it is table layout. I am slowly changing from tables to external CSS, and have changed several pages, but have not changed the index page.
    I have over 100 pages to change, and am adding menus and content while changing (onpage menus because of the amount of content).
    The pages changed are:
    - Under Programming:
    - - FTP Client
    - - HTML Tutorials
    - - HTML Editors
    - Under Engineering
    - - Aerospace
    - - Civil
    - - Industrial
    - - Mechanical
    - Under Mathematics
    - - Arithmetic
    - Under Computers
    - - under computer applications
    - - - Design & Photo
    - - - Utilities & Drivers
    - - - Network Tools
    the styling left when I changed the "banner" to "header" on both the pages and the style sheet. Changed because was told that banner had problems with some antivirus programs.
    Banner or header is the title or top of the page.
    Thank You

    Aaah, you're initial post may have made more sense if you'd linked to a page that had the problem on and not left us to guess

    However, on this page...

    http://freetutorials.name/Reference1/ftp_client.html

    It's definitely picking up the CSS and the two images that are displayed within #header are done so using CSS so I'm not sure what the problem is?

    Unless you're expecting something else?

    I just copied the total content of the site that works (another host and subtitle but same content) and downloaded it to freetutorials. The site it came from displayed correctly, and it displays correctly on my desktop, but only on this host does it display incorrectly (the style sheets are not effective). I checked for errors in spelling (capitals instead of lower case, but could not find any, also checked for syntax. I am at a loss as to what's wrong.

    Looks OK to me.

    Send us the full URL for the page that you can see not working...

    Yep, the URL I've given you above is definitely picking up the CSS and wouldn't be displaying those images if it wasn't seeing the CSS code.

    If that page is displaying differently locally then maybe a screenshot will help us as it's not doing anything out of the ordinary based on the code and the css it's referencing

    I think I am dealing with a virus. The only computer effected so far is mine. I can see it ok on the desktop, but can't view it online. Tried everything I know of so it may be a driver or a virus. tried scanning with antivirus, no help. Now am in the process of restoring system to previous setting, if that doesn't work, then reload the system. Thanks for all your help. Just lost a couple of days to serious fustration.
    Thanks again
