Can I again? 800x600 vs 640x480

I've thinking about it a lot. Im doing web sites for 2 years. And I've always did it to fit in 640x480. But my new site is gonna be 800x600. Now it's very small amount of people use 640x480, and besause my web will be for developers, I believe that almost EVERy one has 800x600+ resolution.I've tried to use Director 7 with 640x480.... this is terrible all those windows such a big mess (same with Flash, Dreamweaver, Photoshop/ImageReady, Forte for Java, and other apps).
I understand that lots of people will just make it to fit in 640x480 because everybody (almost) think that web site should be made in NotePad and fit in 640x480.
Any ideas/comments ?
