An inbound link helps the linked page rank (exceptions being nofollowed links etc). This applies to all pages, not just your home page. Make sure the anchor text of the link relates to the page being linked.

The best way to get deep links is to have deep pages on your site with valuable, linkable content. Then people will naturally link to them.

A link to any page in your website is good. Most people think they have to get the links to their home page which is untrue. Deep links help your inner pages get ranked well and indirectly they can help your home page rank well. Just as your home page can indirectly help your inner pages rank well.

No they won't. Google flat out ignores those links. It is literally like they never existed. e.g. no help at all.

no follow links won't help you with Search Engine Optimization, but they will help other users find your site and may help you generate links that aren't "no follow".

If you want to get good ranking, just create link exchange with related websites.

That will not help your rankings. Link exchanges are devalued by Google and have no real SEO value. If you want to increase your rankings you want to get one way links from related websites.

Interestingly enough, i had a few yahoo answers links that were indexed by google, they are supposed to be no follow too, but google seemed to find them, any ideas why ?

What can really help is creating interior pages or sections that become very popular. It is much harder to do seo work on "deep links" when they are not interesting and popular.

I have done some linking to inner pages and sections of my sites and it seems to pump up those page, but I believe in generating as many inbound links to the homepage of a site is the best focus.

Can you show me an example of them being indexed?

linking to any page of your website is good whether it is home page and inner page. Deep links helps to increase the PR of inner pages.

    Nice! stymiee

I am 100% agree with you that only natural links(one ways) willl help our ranking than link exchange.

But, what do you think about the 3-ways links? Is it beneficial than link exchange or not?
    Thanks in advance!

Try to distribute your links between home as welll as inner pages and limite your links to 20/page.

The links gained from those kinds of exchanges are virtually worthless and not worth the time or effort.
