    Anyone heard of Canaca?

    Hello,

    Long time no post

I have decided to try my luck at a reseller plan and so far have found Canaca.com to be the most affordable, I'm just wondering if anyone has dealt with them in the past because their prices seem suspiciously low?

Also, is there anything I should make sure to ask for when ordering (the reseller will be used to host a couple of friends who use apps like Wordpress, Joomla & OSC)?

    Thanks,
    Luc

I've not encountered recent stories about them, but some older ones can be found if you do a search over at webhostingtalk.com.

If anything, expect to actually be able to use about as much as your money can cover in real terms. That might be vaguely defined by what % of a dedicated server your money can cover. Obviously you'll have to find out the configuration and the likely cost of the servers they use to "house" their resellers.

    Hello Luc,

TBH, I had not heard before regarding the provider you mentioned.

On the other hand before ordering any plan with any hosting provider ask them as many as presales question through there Live chats and emails which can exactly prove there knowledge in this business. Look for there server configuration, server location, uptime guarantees for there server.

As your customers require applications like WP, Joomal, please make sure that they have cPanel as an control panel as this panel is simple and easy for administration. Please check whether they had end user support, as you need not have to bother regarding your client's questions and issues.

Please let me know in case you have any more queries in this regards, I will be glad to assist you

    Thank you.

Wow! Thanks so much for the quick, informative replies guys. I forgot how helpful SitePoint truly is.

I'm going to go and ask them some questions seeing as their live chat is online now, I'll be sure to let you know the results later today.

    Thanks again,
    Luc

    UPDATE:

Found this post after a quick search:

Get away from these guys as fast as you can:

They suspended my account with no warning, they can not speak English, they do not understand English. You have to send emails over and over. They charge your credit card without notice. Dont give credits, you hvae to get your credit card company to do a chargeback. They STINK, they are the worse. My site was only doing 3000 Unique/day and 34Gb transfer per day. I had a VPS3 which was supposed to give me 2.4T/month.
Pretty much confirms my worst fears, can anyone please recommend an affordable reseller for a beginner hoster

Warning!!! This company uses negative-option billing. They will continue to use your credit card without authorization. They will refuse to refund any funds. Check their report with the Better Business Bureau.

I was with them between 2004 and 2005, it was not fun. Downtime was a given and support was very poor.
