I've copied one of my sites from a shared server to my new dedicated server.

A PHP script on the site handled jpeg upload/optimisation using these three handly utils:

djpeg
pnmscale
cjpeg

On my new dedicated server, djpeg and cjpeg came pre-installed, but pnmscale did not.

In searching around for the package that contains pnmscale, I came across an alternative which claims to be a lot better (higher quality, but at the expense of being more CPU intensive):

http://www.students.tut.fi/~leopold/...e/pnmleoscale/

My question - does anyone have any experience using pnmleoscale? If so, any issues I should know about? Are 'Leopolds' claims of superiority justified?

Thanks.

P.S. pnmscale is part of the pbmplus package, which can be found here:
