Unhappy Doing the Charleston - Chew that is.

As if having over $11,000 in medical bills to pay off wasn't enough (kidney stones will do that), I had to go and RIP the side of one of my molars CLEAN OFF last night...

Yeah, that's right. Apparently Murphy decided he hasn't had enough of me just yet. I thought things were going well for me, especially since I closed not one but two deals yesterday (which will probably keep me VERY busy for about a week), and I have a couple more prospects that I'm in the process of converting into clients (I just started with one, and I'm scoping out the other). Well I guess ole Murphy got jealous of my newfound relative "success" and decided that I'd be better off giving the hard earned money to someone else (who doesn't need it, but could use it to pay his employees - but damn it, that's supposed to be MY decision).

You see, while I was out at the store last night, I bought a couple Charleston Chews [link: wikipedia.org]. Since I don't drive (or have a car for that matter), I walked to and from the store, like I always do. When I got home (it was already colder than Hell [link: wikipedia.org]), I decided to stick the Charleston Chews in the freezer, while I cooked a pizza for dinner. After I ate the pizza, I had a glass of milk to wash it down and then started to eat the chocolate Charleston Chew - when I felt the molar cave in.

So I'm going to be having a nice little "chit chat" with the dentist later today once I wake up (it's going on 3AM as I type this) and see what I can do about getting the damage repaired. But given that the molar in question is a wisdom tooth, I just might be better off yanking it out entirely (even though my wisdom teeth by and large have come in rather well, given their reputation for being such pains in the mouth).

    How do you spell "yippekayay"?

At least you can get in to see your dentist fairly quickly.

And at least it is a wisdom tooth. You can do well with a little less wisdom

Well, good luck Dan, you probably can just have a crown plopped on that if it is not broken too close to the nerve. Then ROOTCANAL. Those are fun, especially when the dentist doing it is telling his life story while you sit there and can say nothing. Umph.

Ok, the appointment's been set for tomorrow at 1PM US Central Time, which will of course set me back $40 (that includes the X-ray).

$40! Holy hell. You can't see a dentist for less than about $150 here.

    What she said.

And who knows, maybe if you hadn't chipped it, it would have become impacted as it grew in and later required a root canal. Everything happens for a reason.*

Actually my wisdom teeth for the most part have already grown in. I think it's just been rotting from the inside out.

I think you're right... I'm pretty sure teeth aren't supposed to break that easily.

You? Take over the world? Yeah right. Perhaps I should give Ram a pay raise - he's been doing a good job of keeping you preoccupied lately.

By the way Shaun, how's everything going in Trinidad? I heard there was a quake in the area yesterday.

The tooth has to go. Surgery is scheduled for Monday morning at 9:30 because I'm a whopping $3.00 short on my PayPal account (I have a PayPal debit card so I can withdraw directly from it) and the bank account has only 14 cents in it (hey, I had other bills to pay). And by short I don't mean in the red, but $3 shy of being able to pay the bill outright (they don't invoice).

Hey man, so how'd you make out at the dentist?

I feel your pain as I had about as much in dental bills this past year as you have in medical bills, but at least if it is a widsom tooth you can yank it without too much trouble.

I got rid of my last two wisdoms about two years ago and I had more root canals and crowns this past year than you'd believe..but on the bright side I'll never have cavities in those teeth again! Thank you CocaCola!

I stopped drinking soda last February (February 2006) cold turkey, so hopefully I won't have that problem. I've added amoxicillian (gee, I wonder why I remember THOSE HORSE PILLS), acetaminophen (Tylenol Rapid Release, to be exact), and codene to the Vicodin, Icy Hot, and aspirin already in my medicine cabinet.

The tooth got yanked with no problems, save for the fact that I've been bleeding all day long, and will likely continue to for another 48 hours, but the dentist did find a cavity in the molar next to the wisdom tooth that got pulled. I was having problems brushing that tooth completely, but I was hoping it would be fine.

Just my freaking luck. So I've got to go back in for another X-Ray (another $40), this time of my whole mouth, to see if there are any other dental "easter eggs" for the dentist to find (sorry, but the only easter eggs I want to find these days are on DVDs).
