Question How do you structure your browser's bookmarks?

Hello again,

I've been wondering, how does everybody else structure their browser's bookmarks?

I'm asking this because it seems that I forget about all the links in my bookmarks, and just use the ones on my bookmark tool bar (since they're always visible).

My structure is grouping links into the typical, generic folders of "software" , "tutorials", "videos"....etc, but then everything gets mixed up and I decide to search google instead.

Any creative ideas to make finding and referring to bookmarks faster/easier?

I have "folders" like: blogs (webmaster blogs, I don't read others), ro-blogs (Romanian blogs) .. webmaster forums, etc. And still it's a mess

These days I use del.ico.us more often than I do browser book markups. Nonetheless, my browsers do have a truckload of bookmarks stored in them and yes i group them in categories 'PHP5', 'OOP', 'Business'... etc.

I actually need to clean up my bookmarks. Most of my book marks are in the root rather than in folders. It's a mess

I made a web page out of them and use that as the home page in my browser. That way they are all visible in their appropriate categories whenever I hit the home button at the top of the browser. The only ones in my bookmarks still are those I recently put there that I haven't copied into my home page yet.

That's a neat idea Stephen. I might think about doing that in the near future, for the experience (and usefulness) of building it.

I have about a dozen folders and those have sub-folders and so on. However, the first links above all the folders are sites I use daily. I tend to add links without putting them where they should go and then I do a spring cleaning thing every so often....but not often enough. My bookmarks are kinda like my desk; I know where everything is but to the untrained eye...chaos.

I rarely use my browser's bookmarks and instead have my own personal homepage.

I don't. There's just 300 bookmarks in no order whatsoever.

I do the same thing, but only with the popular ones. My actual bookmarks have become a sort of archive.

Stephen, that IS a good idea. Do you mind if I "steal" it?

I have made some folders as I love bookmarking the site.
I've around 500 bookmarks saved in around 30+ folders...

I also tend to bookmark everything that seems interesting. After an hour I forget about it and when I see the bookmark a few days later it's not interesting anymore
And I also forget about the useful ones, and always google for things. The only bookmarks that I frequently use are in the bookmarks toolbar. Mind that I have 7 folders in that toolbar folder
And sometimes I browse through the other bookmarks, when I really have nothing to do.

Yes,
Even you sort and not easy to find it for many many bookmarks.
And it need to orangize them if getting many bookmarks.
I will add "zzzz" before the important or favor site(s) name and it will stay at the bottom of the pull down menu.
Then it will easy to find it.

I have folders with folders within folders! Works fine for me - right up until I lost all of my bookmarks about a year ago after a Firefox update (no amount of rolling back or resetting helped).

Can you imagine suddenly losing all of your bookmarks? *shudder*

This thread begs the question, what percentage of your bookmarks are 404s?

I bet I'm pushing 25%, if not more.
