CMS recommendations

Can anyone recommend a good basic CMS system, free or moderate cost?

The requirements are that i can integrate it with my site without having to redesign the site.

Member administration, homepage updates of news /events snippets, photo uploads, new pages and upkeep of stats data.

php / mysql.

FlashLoaded has three that are priced ok.

I have never used them so i cant say if they are any good or not.

Why not give Mambo a shot? It is a good CMS and there is a decent version on the way now.

I think JAWS is pretty good. Easy to use, great interface and nice module/plugin structure. They have done quite a bit through the Google summer of code as well.

You are going to have a difficult time finding something if you want it to work with your existing files.

CMS systems usually use templates and some sort of admin interface to manage the theme, functionality and content of your site. You could turn your current site files into templates to use with the system, but it's not just a matter of installing the software next to an existing site, and being able to manage it's content.

You could do that with something like Adobe Contribute, but it's not quite the same thing.

Joomla, Xoops, Mambo and Midgard are all good PHP based CMS systems.

Hmm... you could try Subdreamer. Back in the day I loved it, and also made lots of plug ins for it .

Joomla is FREE and very powerful. You can integrate into any site since the template can be made to look like anything. It has membership administration for all users. News events updates. You can upload photos and if you want to sell digital downloads there is component called VirtueMart which accepts PayPal payments.

If your using Dreamweaver, Contribute is the best since it supports DW templates. It costs about $150 though, but has tons of features --- and is not web based.

Wordpress, Etomite and ModX would all be able to do this quite simply with a couple of plugins/snippets.

You can use joomla.
It is good and easy to use.

A couple people mentioned joomla. I checked it out, reminds me of OSCommerce where you have a back-end and template driven front end.

I was wondering if anyone was using joomla's back end, but custom building their own front in without using joomla's front end templates? Basically, coding their own pages to pull data from the joomla db etc.
