    I have a question.

I've only recently stumbled on this photo challenge thing and I'm a bit confused (not unusual for me unfortunately ). How long does the weekly challenge go for? People seem to be posting pictures for previous challenges long after the week has gone.

Is there a prize? SP t-shirt, name in lights or something?

In the meantime, here is another picture of lonely solitude taken in Italy:

The idea behind the challenge is to "challenge" people to get out with their cameras and capture things and perhaps get them to look at things in different ways, so that is where the challenge is. There is no prize only the fun of participating with fellow members who also enjoy taking photos; and really, who doesn't like sharing a great shot!

They are "weekly" in the sense that there is a new topic every week but we all have busy lives and can't always get out and take a photo that week so the topics are left open. Since there is no judging or no prize, leaving the threads open for future participants only adds value to it!

    Hope that helps

Nope, not at all. Many of us have large collections of photos so if you have one that is appropriate, then by all means! I am one of the people who don't always have time to go out and take pictures, but just be being aware of the topics for the challenges, the next time I am out, I keep my eyes open for things that could fit!

Towers seem to evoke that feeling of solitude. Nice jantheman and Jelena. A mountain seems to give this feel as well.

I agree, especially the really big ones! Here's another for good measure:

I'm not entirely sure this counts as solitude, but it was an interesting little fellow anyway.

It's a great pic ParkinT. Though in future I would resize it so nobody has to scroll. I know it's a chore as My digital cam pics are way too big for raw posting, so I end up opening the file in Photoshop just to resize it to about max 500px wide.

That's a nice pic, though in this case a little small perhaps I would love to see the details in that pic. I know this sounds demanding, sorry about that, but your contributions have been great in quality so far. It's just these damned screen-sizes that cause the problem.

    Thank you.
    Try this link.
I just took a vacation in Northern Georgia and, in order to share the experience with family and friends, "threw up" a quick site with the pics. Nothing fancy (I am a Developer not a Designer), just a PHP application that reads the directory of images and lists them.
My "formal training" is in Cinematography, but I have had a lot of fun with still photography my whole life. The Digital equipment make it so very easy (if you can get around the automatic nonsense that sometimes gets in the way!).

    Here is another SOLITUDE image:

Those are some nice images Parkin T. Hope you participate more in the future. I love seeing all the different images.

For my sizing I have the rule to make the images 450 px to 500 px high. That makes for easy viewing even on a smaller screen, but large enough not to be a thumbnail

Width for the smaller screen should be max 700 px. Since we show these in the confines of the forum structure, full screen view is not really feesable without scrolling

now that you mention it, I thought I'd post these!!

this was I think a watch tower. I snapped this photo at the Jaigarh Fort on the outskirts of Jaipur. the flag on top is that of Jaipur's royal family.

this is the photo of the same tower as above but from near the base of the tower to create a kind of silhouette since the sun was directly behind it, so I thought it would look cool if I got a portion of sun from the side of tower, which I eventually managed to get.

Thanks. The Native American art that is so prevalent around here just naturally has a quite nobility about them - like they don't mind being by themselves.

I figured I'd better represent the birds a bit, since the cats have gotten a few.
