    Name for my site

Many of you will be aware that I am in the process of developing a new freelancer site with which I am determined to break the mould; however I have a major problem inasmuch that I cannot for the life of me come up with a decent name for it. I thought I would have a little contest to see if you guys can come up with a decent name. If you do come up with a name that I go on and use for the site I will reward you with a nice new shiny sitepoint book of choice. The only rules really are that it has to be a domain name that I can register so by default not in use. I guess the best way to do it is to PM me with your offering otherwise some bright spark is going to snap them up as soon as they are posted. To the mods; please remove this post if it breaks any rules.

Anything else you can tell us about the site? You say it breaks the mold, so maybe that is where we should go with the name, but might be could to know what you are emphasizing that makes it different or better.

Probably the most significant difference between the new site and what already exists is that both clients and providers will be "vetted" for suitability. The nuts and bolts of how it's all going to happen are still being developed.

Also telling us what sort of image you want to portray would help.

If I had to sum up the image I am trying to portray it would be professional and trustworthy. But I want that impression to gained by the providers as well as the clients.

Does it have to be a name that automatically implies that it's a freelancer site (ala rentacoder) or could it be any generic name (ala Odesk)?

I think it can be any name that is instantly memorable while at the same time bringing to mind a hidden quality like expertise, skill, honesty, good judgment, equality, solidness, fairness and exceptional to name but a few. It's funny you mentioning rentacoder because I have always wondered if as a name rentacoder put off first time clients who were looking for graphics and design work. Similarly I have always wondered why 0desk have the 0 when you think of what it is sinominous with. I think a good made-up imaginative name would work just as well as anything else to be honest.

Edit: a couple of other nice words to conjure with are integrity and transparency

Just thought I had better bring everybody up to speed now that I have started to receive suggestions. I guess it never occurred to me that more than one person would suggest the same name so I am going to have to introduce a new rule. If two people suggest the same name and I decide to use that name then obviously the SP book of choice is going to go to the first person who suggested the name. I hope everybody agrees that this is the fairest way.

    @dvduval
Imaginative and pretty different (some already taken though).

Got a ring to it, I got to admit.

Please don't blame me if some bright spark jumps in and registers these before I get a chance to consider them. That's why I thought the PM was a better option.

You could just state that all domain names proposed by posting in the thread will not be considered.

Try to get at least one of your keywords in the domain, so do some research for your industry. Cheers.

drmadcow, he's not asking for SEO advice - besides, Chris knows what he's doing (and he has the bank account to prove it) anyway.

He's just trying to come up with a memorable name for his site, that's all.

It's really tricky isn't it, I've just been spending the past few minutes thinking and I'm afraid only come up with the ideas below... Which are gone or I wouldn't post them So not a lot of help, but maybe will inspire others... I'll keep thinking about it today.

I know what you mean. I have an ongoing project where the client has taken 3 months so far with no name yet. Every name he suggests is a pretty common name which is already taken.

My one questions is this: Given that in the posts above we can see these things, does Mobyme ever sleep? Your posting times are all over the clock!

On a more serious (non-drifting) note, I'll be trying to find/think of a few names for suggestion myself so I'll pm you when I have a few significant ideas.

Some of the ones I already thought of were had unfortunately - and some range into the probably-too-bizzare.
