    A music website

Im forever being told if im going to do a website do something that i like and wont get bored of. Well football and music pay big parts in my life and i already have a football website.

But ive been looking into doing a music website. And i was just wondering if there was anythingi should know about doing a music website.

Like with football sites you have to buy rights to show your club logo, the league table and even pictures of players even if you take them pictures yourself.

And i dont wanna do a music website to find out i need to have the rights to do reviews on bands etc.

Just stay away from any Prince related materials, that guy is even suing people who post a picture of their Prince-inspired tattoo on the internet!

also you can try to improve more the football website and make it almost better than the official website of the club it self.

I prefer to find an area with very little competition, then build a site around that. I'm working on an e-commerce system right for selling Audio CDs

I have a few music sites, but they are for loops mostly.

I think you would need a sort of reseller account of some sort if you wanted to sell audio downloads...

but selling actual music cd's i think there would be no legal problems.

You buy the cd's in bulk at one price and sell them at a slightly inflated rate, or the same rate just charge extra handling fees.

There is much suing going on in the music industry this is true.

Just find a unique angle, and don't rip off copyrights and you'll do good.

    Be really careful with copyrights.

I'm in the process of developing a music website as well, and the sole piece of advice I was given was to be VERY careful of copyrights. I wanted music lyrics, I was told to forget that idea, without getting permission from each and every artist... even album covers I was warned against.

Reviews and stuff should be fine from a copyright perspective... but anything you don't own, tread carefully with.

I've created a few websites about music and without any kind of problems according to owners...there a hundreds of sites in the internet that contain music videos, lyrics, photos...except for the music itself (sites to download mp3 of famous artists for example)

I've done websites for local bands in the past. It helps me take care of coming up with too much of my own content while at the same time helps me earn a few bucks from my hobby/addiction.
