i don't think i'll be buying photoshop anymore, it's back to elements or one of those newfangled cheap OS X image editors for my personal graphics stuff. photoshop's cost vs the features I use don't really work out

For high end graphics, it's Gimp. But the only software I ever bought was WindowsXP. However, I've been Windows free for just over a year now.

I do own fairly recent versions of Visual Studio, Dreamweaver, Office and such, but these were given to me by people who upgrade. I never use them.

My wife needed Quickbooks Pro for her business so that's the most expensive she's ever bought.

hehe, I forgot to make my on post. I would say Borland C++ Studio, back in the day, and the most recent Photoshop (which I probably won't be upgrading any time soon).

Anyone here actually bought the full creative suite? What I hate about Adobe bundles is the fact that they group useless crap with good stuff, and somehow leave essentials/good-to-have-also completely out.. I would prefer to be able to create my own bundle..

Before my recent PS purchase (USD $600 -GDP 600 = 1200USD! ) I looked over and over at the ones up on Adobe and nothing suited.
If I had a wish list it would have been
    PS
    Flash
    Illustrator.
    NO DW! thnx bye

I recently placed an order for an enterprise installation of Crystal Reports XI, which was into the 6 figures before we had all the quirks worked out.

That was for work of course, not myself.

Personally, I think the ~$100 I paid for a Komodo license would take it.

About 12 years ago I bought copies of Watcom SQL for DOS, Windows, and OS/2 including the standalone runtimes. Cost me about $3000. (At least it was a lot cheaper than the computer that I bought to run it on which cost about 3 times that).

About 8 years ago, I bought US$6.3 million dollars worth of Microsoft
Office 2000 licences alone to cover all the worldwide offices for the company
    I worked for.

And for our Mac users, I also bought almost 5 million bucks worth of
various Adobe software, collectively known as the Adobe Debt Creator Suite

At a personal level, how about this story... does this count?

    http://thelongestlistofthelongeststu...pensive26.html

    Everything is relative.

Would you pay money to buy blog software? I wouldn't, because I know
WordPress exists and it is free.

But Google paid a ton of greenbacks for a blogging platform. It goes by the
    name of Blogger.com

And would you pay for video streaming software if you could knew you could
use some open source program for free?

Well Google did - they paid $1.65 billion for some video streaming software...
I think they call it YouTube.com

It all depends on your goals and needs.

The most I personally paid for software was about 50 bucks for Redhat Linux
over 10 years ago. $50 was a lot in those days. That was expensive
    considering Linux is free!

You have to remember there was no way you could download such big files
at that time with a 2.4K modem.

As they say at the Wall Street Journal, "Have a great day and make it a
    productive one!"

    Cheers,
    Jason
