Weekly Photo Challenge - Anything Goes!

This week, post a couple of your favorite pictures from any theme! Just pictures that you really like.

Last week I painted a lot of silks. The silk is washed and dried before it can be painted. I did use a lot of black dye for this batch, and the cleanup with soap created an interesting pattern. After the processing I tossed the finished silk onto a table.

I enjoyed the consistency of the colors in all the elements of this shot. From the ducks to the leaves, grass and ground.

Very lovely Warp, the colors are gorgeous, and the pattern the birds create in this arrangement as well. A great shot

One shot I took that is my personal favorite, taken near the Kentucky/West Virginia border after a long day at a refinery. Very little was done to edit this photo besides removing a few blotches.

Wow, these are great!

What I liked about this picture below was that the bottom half was blurred and the top half was clear. I wish I knew how to do these sorts of things on purpose.

Have the camera focus to the distant object instead of the close one.

It is amazing how you can manipulate this thing. I will get into this deeper now and try to be more in charge with foresight. I have the graphics down because of my painting of course, but the camera settings themselves I have to work on. The learning never ends

yeah its that easy. whatever you focus on will remain sharp. anything else remains sharp or not depends on how much aperture you've got set. the less the f number, the blurry non-focused object will be & the more the f number, the clearer the non-focus object will be.

I am much less impressed with it now

human nature, you see something cool & don't know how to do it & you are impressed & the moment that thing becomes easy for you, you don't find it impressing any longer!!

This is one of my most favorite photographs to date. I took it immediately when seeing it, it is probably graffiti at its finest - considering it is in Cardiff Wales and not India I walk past it each morning on the way to work and it always cheers me up.

Those pictures are fabulous.

The only thing that I would have done in the boat picture: adjust the horizon, make it a true horizontal, watched out for it while taking the pic. Since I work with a wide angle lens, the horizon makes a bowl and I have to adjust the line. Sometimes with much effort in Photoshop.

That is a very important thing often overlooked in taking a picture. It is never perfect unless the horizon is It is much easier in a setting without that straight line of course.

thanks Sara. though I did adjust it a bit once I got it transferred to the computer. used a new online tool Picnik on this photo & this is the resultant one, with adjusted sharpness & contrast & frame.

ah I know, but here I didn't straighten the horizon line on purpose so as to avoid the same thing everyone tries to do!! so I took it in a position where the horizon line wouldn't come straight & it came as I wanted so didn't have to tilt it on the computer either!! something different from the usual I think!!

I would call that framing then!! and yes indeed thats very good framing bradical1379. but you got some lens flare dude, if you can then remove it using some editing software & watchout for it next time. otherwise its a great shot.

Ok, you call it framing I agree with the lens flare, that should be removed. It always happens when you shoot too close to the sun, have to angle a bit away or wait when the sun is at a different location

Wow, what a shot bradical1379. I love the way the buildings are anchored to the edge. Cropped. I find pictures done like that very strong. The cropping imparts this strength. I use the approach often in painting.

I can't take credit for any cropping, that was just the RAW photo off of the camera, uploaded to my site.

But you chose to take the picture like that. That is cropping as well You just took it already cropped instead of standing back to get it all in. The devision of the picture is perfect.
