Is it possible to have a d_igg like comment system for blog? The way the threading works just proved to be awesome for blog owners. i want to know if we can incorporate it to our blogs

That has something to do Sitepointers d_igging too many articles I think. There's a link floating round somewhere explaining the details but I can't find it right now.

For a high traffic blog, sometimes visitors would want to respond to each other, but a comment will be ten comments away they'd like to reply to.

In John Chow's blog, he has a comment system where users can reply to each other.

To say it's D***-like is a bit of a misnomer, since hundreds of sites implemented that functionality way before the big D. It's threaded comments you are looking for.

LiveJournal does that, and I'm sure if you google for it you'll find a plugin for Wordpress too.

There are multiple WordPress plugins for this. From memory, "Threaded Comments" is the most popular, but new services such as Intense Debate and Disqus handle this as well, I thnk (but don't hold me to it).
