    Entrecard

Have any of you heard of Entrecard (http://entrecard.com/)? It's a way to promote your blog by dropping off your web "business card" at other blogs that use Entrecard. I learned about this on ShoeMoney.

But this site has 0 page rank with no back links.
    Is it working?

I don't think it will be great for SEO benefits, but it could drive some good traffic to your site. Especially if you get in early.

There are very few bloggers on it right now. Maybe 25 at most, but I do think it has potential since blogs like ShoeMoney are behind it. It also has a very good way of rewarding people to visit other blogs on the network by giving them a credit to use to buy advertising on blogs if they drop their card off.

I signed up today and got 10 visitors from it. Not huge traffic, but as more bloggers sign up, I see that it could easily grow to hundreds of visitors a day.

What does page rank have to do with if the site works or not? It may be a new site, but that doesn't mean the idea won't take off.

Agree with Shyflower. PR and back-links are totally irrelevant. This would probably be like the BlogRush widget. The viral effect takes off very fast in the blogoshpere.

I personally wouldn't try it out though. Most of the entrecard users would probably be those who use blogs for monetization.

But then again, given their business model, they can either get very successful, or crash and burn in a few months.
    How does entrecard make money?

Once per day we will allow a larger company to drop their card into the inbox across the entire network. This will not appear on your website anywhere, but rather only in your inbox when you log into entrecard. You will also receive 5 bonus credits for visiting these sponsors. We will also allow for sponsorship opportunities for our system emails and all of our RSS feeds. When the economy is in great shape, we will roll out a credit exchange for bloggers to sell their credits to advertisers, and we will take a commission.

Yes, another widget that tracks your movement from site to site. 2007 blog scene, specially the ones that talk about making money, resembles 1998's porn site scene. However, this time we have ajax, widgets, and videos. Large sites promote traffic exchange methods and all the smaller ones fall for it but eventually it only benefits larger sites without any effort and a few smaller sites that put a lot of efforts. Wonderful system. History repeats itslef.

Well, it's been about 5 days of using Entrecard and I've received 100 visits, so about 20 visits a day from it. I've also been able to find a few cool blogs through it.

Overall, I think this could work to be quite a traffic generator as it grows, especially for the new blogs that sign up. The traffic isn't very targeted right now, but that could change as more blogs join.

Well, they're one of our current advertisers, so we account for about 50 of the blogs on the network. I'm not 100% sold on it, but it will be interesting to watch. It's not so "out there" that I'd be against it, I'm just not sure on how traffic flow will work out

Hey Jeremy, any chance you might be putting the Baldiness blog up there?

Entrecard is well thought out and offers some good value.

Unfortunately there are lots of companies lining up and offering similar things.

As it's an ad deal, the advertiser chooses which blogs to go on

Because we get so many requests for widgets (and since those widgets puts *all* the risk n us), we require that folk who want us to "try" the widget out actually act as advertisers for the first couple of months. Then, if we see the value they think we'll see, we're happy to keep it for free.

In this case, Entrecard is still, I believe, in the advertiser phase (proving their value to us). If they do, we'll keep them and likely roll them out across the network

Just as a piece of disclosure, I was invited to the Entrecard board last night. Details aren't finalized, but I wouldn't want any calls of conflict later on.

Ok, so it's been 19 days on Entrecard and I've recieved 214 direct visits from either Entrecard.com or the widget that is on someone's blog. I should be showing in John Chow's widget in a couple of days, so that will hopefully bring me more traffic. I have also met a few bloggers that are similar in likes and have blog rolled each other. One blog even did an entire post on my blog.

I'd say that it's been OK so far. I'm going to give it 90 days to see how it grows. There are a couple hundred blogs on the site now, so I'm seeing the page views increase on a daily basis.

It's been almost 2 months on Entrecard and I have to say that I'm sticking with it. The traffic has been consistent at about 25 visits a day with a spike here and there based on which sites I was "advertising" on .

I'd say the most valuable part of being on Entrecard has been networking with other bloggers. This has yielded me at least 15 more backlinks to my blog and a huge spike in ranking on Alexa and Compete.
