TypePad SEO Implications

I want to start a blog on my TLD domain name - www dot myblogdomain.com.

I'm considering hosting it on a paid blog hosting plan from TypePad and pointing www dot myblogdomain.com to the TypePad blog.

Will hosting it on TypePad have any implications for the SEO of my blog?

Would I get better SEO results if I purchased a hosting plan for my domain and installed WP on it?

Short answer - no.

Long answer, it'll depend on how much you can optimzie the template files and how aggressive your marketing and promoting strategies are. Not to mention the quality of the content you write. In other words, don't expect a magic silver bullet to save you from the Big Bad Wolf.

I think my question may not have been clear. To put it another way;

All else being equal, will I get the same SEO results if I point www dot myblogdomain.com to my blog on TypePad, as I would if I set a WP blog on a normal hosting account on www dot myblogdomain.com ?

Assuming the blog gets directed to the domain name (meaning that if I type in myblogname.com I see the content on there rather than being redirected elsewhere) then my answer will remain the same.
