    Monitoring file transaction

    Hi,
A client of mine wants one of those rapidshare.de/com features on his software/script download site.
    Basically he wants this :
    1. Check if the current download by the user is finishes and if so then add 1 to the counter.
    2. If download is not finished then perform other functions like emailing admin etc.

I was wondering if this is possible in php and if so a small code clue would be great.
    Thanks

In essense it goes down to keeping your files outisde webserver document root and passing the files through php. That way you can do any processing before outputting the file. The routine comes to mind:

    - register all files in database
    - log all download requests assigned to user session
    - keep the stats of user downloads

    All nothing but crud operations.

The references to look up are fpassthru and the datbase access routines that you use.
