    No-Repeat background w/o CSS?

    I don't know if this is possible or not, but can you have a background image in a table that doesn't repeat? I am creating an HTML email and running into problems with GMAIL etc. w/background images being stripped out.

    i.e. <table background="image" ... ></table>

    This is what I currently have:
    Code HTML4Strict:
    <table width="800" height="390" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0">
      <tr>
        <td valign="top" style="background-image: url(gc.jpg);background-repeat:no-repeat">

    images in email

    Are there other images that aren't being stripped out? Are you sending the image as an attachment?

    The images that are in <img> tags show up as attachments, but the background images are stripped out...is there a way around this?

    syntax

    That it's displaying other images is a good sign. Maybe it needs the "old" syntax, ie. "background":
    HTML Code:
    <td valign="top" background="gc.jpg" style="background-repeat:no-repeat">

    GMail doesn't support background-repeat. Either come up with a way to do whatever you're doing without backgrounds, or rewrite your e-mail so repeating doesn't matter.

    That being said, for some e-mail clients, using the HTML background attribute is necessary because they do not support the CSS background property.

    Good reference to use: http://www.campaignmonitor.com/blog/...in_emai_2.html
