    Live Blogging?

When some of the Tech Blogs cover keynote speeches they set up a "live blogging" page where people can log on a page and there is a running text of the speech that is being entered and pushed to the users every minute or so.

Does anybody know how this is set up? What kind of applications?

I hold a drawing every year on my forum and in years past we did it "live" and folks just refreshed the forum to read new posts. We grew way too big for that and the last two times we tried it -- before giving it up a couple of years ago- we would crash the server for hours because of too many connections at once.

But with Live Blogging I could probably go back to a live event.

Anybody here that can help me on this?

I haven't seen this in action so it's hard to imagine it. Do you see the text being written across the screen or is it simply updated very frequently so someone is transcribing as the speech is being given?

The page doesn't even refresh- a new paragraph appears at the top of the live blog every 30 to 60 seconds and the older paragraphs scroll down.
