I have not found any manual. However i have found an artical which suggests to install the FFMPEG using Command prompt of Linux OS. But i don't have any rights for that. SO that's why i am putting up an query about installations that is there any other way to work with FFMPEG in Linux OS.

Actually in Window OS, you just have to put your script having shell_exec(command) Where Command stands for " path of ffmpeg.exe -i input file and so on ". But it is not working in Linux OS.

is there any other simple way to run ffmpeag for your commands

    Thanks !!

You're not going to get far with ffmpeg if you don't have command prompt access. You can possibly as you mentioned run a precompiled binary directly but if you don't have command access, you're unlikely to have permissions to run binaries. It's not the sort of application that is really suited to shared hosting environments. Upgrade your hosting to a vps?

Ok, i hv got an dedicated server for my website. also i have leanrt that i shuld install other libraries in addition to ffmpeag such as LAME,FFMPEG - PHP and Ftv tool2.....,

Is it right to install these libraries ? or is there any other library to install for this ? my purpose is to convert any video file such as avi,wmv etc to flv on the fly.

it would be great if anyone point me to an article/tutorial where some source is available for this type of things.

    Thanks in advance !!!

To check FFMPEG you need to login to shell (SSH) and type which ffmpeg

If its installed it will show you the path were its done.
