    Web-based Access Log Analyzer

    Friends,

I would like to install a third-party statistics program. I tried AWStats, and although I think it's one of the best, I can't get it installed. I thought it might have something to do with the permissions on pl files, but I set them all properly, but the awstats_configure.pl file doesn't prompt me for details like it should. It just stops in the middle.

So after looking into Webalizer, I found that it had no intuitive installation instructions (that I could find).

Then I began looking on HotScripts, but all of those seem to be executables. I can't just upload those onto my web server and run them.

So is there a basic analyzer software that isn't too hard to install, uses PHP, and is open-source?

I've tried searching for this, but for some reason, SitePoint Search is hanging like a wool coat in wintertime. Probably my side.

    Thanks.

Is there a reason you want it installed on your server?

If not then try Google Analytics or W3Counter

If so then try Mint (which is $30 and PHP/MySQL) or AXS which is free but written in perl.

I like bbclone - its quite large but gives a lot of interesting information.
    http://bbclone.de/

Upload, CHMOD some files and add some code to the pages to watch.

Make sure you password protect the bbclone folder ( or what ever software you decide to use ) unless you want to help out the Statistics spammers or whatever they are called.

I suggest you not to install any software because exist Google Analytics it already show a lot of information and Google is adding new modules very often.

    He means referrer spammers.

It's people who spam publicly indexed weblogs in order to get backlinks. You'd be amazed at how many sites have their weblogs indexed.
