the parent window cannot be activated or clicked without closing the popup window. I tried modal window. But its not working....

Any body have idea? if it can be done via modal window, then how can we do it.

    Thanks

This is not possible to do, if it was it would have been exploited by spammers and intrusive advertisers already.
    Kind Regards,

There might be a workaround to it, depending on whether or not Javascript allows handling sessions or cookies.

What you do then, is set it in a session or a cookie that the parent window is open, and when it closes (onunload), you first change it with Javascript to either be gone or say it's closed. Then, when the popup is being closed (onunload again), you check that session/cookie, and if it says that the parent window is closed, it opens a new popup containing that parent window.

This has a few setbacks, one being that it breaks the concept of parent-child windows, one being that it's kinda ugly, one that it's not necessarily to work (it's a theory, which stands or falls with Javascript allowing either sessions or cokies or not), and the last being that you'll lose your data in the parent window.
