    Div within a div problems

    I have always placed divs inside divs. I create a containing div and inside that I place a header with columns (all divs).

    I am doing that agian but I realized that I can't get a background image to tile all the way down the page if I float the containing div's left.

    How do I do this then? I tried to make the containing divs into spans but then the <p> tags arn't recognized.

    Here's an image:

    The dotted red outline should be around the blue ones, and the yellow should streach all the way down to the bottom of the longest column. Right?

    Your divs inside are probably all floated.
    Add this to the styles for the containing div:
    Code CSS:
    #yourdiv {
     height: 1%;
     overflow: hidden;
    }
