I'm trying to hunt down a book that gives a good architectural overview of a recent release of the .NET framework. Something like .NET Framework Essentials but a bit more up to date
I'm not just interested in ASP.NET, but also ADO.NET etc. Something that assumes a fair degree of programming and systems integration knowledge - but not necessarily a lot of .NET knowledge - would be ideal.
3.0 encompasses WCF/WF/WPF. 3.0 sits on top of the 2.0 Framework. I don't think there is a single book for 3.0 that would do a great job with all three (WCF/WF/WPF). Juval Lowy has an excellent WCF book published by O'Reilly.
Hope that helps.
Oh, and Sitepoint just put out an ASP.NET 2.0 book that is probably great
