IBM Delivers World's Fastest Database
DB2 Database Software Delivers Unmatched Performance And The Lowest Total Cost Of Ownership For Business Intelligence Deployments
SOMERS, NY -- (INTERNET WIRE) -- 02/22/2002 -- IBM announced today its DB2 database software has set three new world-records for business intelligence performance, based on the industry standard TPC-H benchmark. With these new results DB2 boasts the number one performance in all of the published benchmark scale factors: 100GB, 300GB, 1000GB, and 3000GB.
These results clearly demonstrate IBM's ability to provide rapid response for complex query workloads from small to multi-terabyte implementations. IBM's unique ability to deliver these results on a variety of industry standard platforms, Linux, UNIX, and Windows, also allows customers to leverage their existing skills and infrastructures to achieve faster time to market and lower total cost of ownership.
TPC-H measures the performance of decision support systems to examine large volumes of data, execute queries with a high degree of complexity, and give answers to critical business questions. The test is a standard benchmark defined by the Transaction Processing Performance Council (TPC), an industry group whose members include most of the largest computer system and database companies worldwide.
