I did a little search and found this. I'm tending to think the answer is "no".

Google changed their policy on this, I believe in the past year. If I'm recalling correctly, it is now permissible to use other contextually targeted ads as long as they cannot be easily mistaken for Google ads. Basically, they just need to look different. Here's a link I found on the topic which might be useful: http://www.jensense.com/archives/200...ficial_yo.html

As far as I can gather you are allowed to use Kontera on the same pages as Adsense. Google changed their Terms of Service. You are now allowed to use other networks provided that they don't resemble Adsense ads. [Previously it stated that you cannot use any other contextual ad networks on the same page]

    Competitive Ads and Services

In order to prevent user confusion, we do not permit Google ads or search boxes to be published on websites that also contain other ads or services formatted to use the same layout and colors as the Google ads or search boxes on that site. Although you may sell ads directly on your site, it is your responsibility to ensure these ads cannot be confused with Google ads.
    Adsense Program Policies
Also see the Jensense article on the changes in the Adsense T&C.

Personally I've been using Kontera and Adsense on the same pages for almost 7 months now without any problems.

Just remember that the Google script is about 12k in size and the Kontera one is about 18k in size so with the ideal being to keep total web page size under 30k and remembering that over half your visitors will leave before a 70k page finishes loading, including both on the page leaves room for very little actual content.

Yes you can use them on the same site and even on the same pages I believe. As long as the contextual ads don't look the same you should be fine as far as I know.

Kontera's script loads up after the rest of the page has loaded. Your surfers can start viewing the page, and the ads will be added along later. In my experience, it does not slow down your page (wish I could say the same about Adsense). And yes, you can use both on your pages at the same time.

Kontera ads don't even work properly with all web browsers but their script still downloads regardless making the page slower to load for no useful purpose.

What's Kontera - is it just like google where it pays you for each click? How does Kontera fare - do their ads perform well?

I have to say that kontera works very well for me. I have found them to be exceptionally helpful in tweaking the ads too. They created a custom script for me with fewer ads and special features. It doesn't overburden the pages, as far as I can see, at least not more than any other network (in fact, I find that VC/Casale banners slow the pages much more, but I still keep those).

I haven't noticed any browser issues. Not to say that there aren't any, but they can't be affecting too many of my visitors, because overall kontera performs well for me. Their eCPM on my pages is fairly good and it's in addition to what I make on Adsense, so well worth it for me. It did take their system a few weeks to optimize the ads according to my traffic and reach a good high eCPM, but I'm happy with the results. They pay on time too, so thumbs up for Kontera from me.

Well for Google to display text ads on your page it attaches a 12k JavaScript file to your page that has to be downloaded. Kontera does the same except that their file is nearly 1-1/2 times the size of the Google one and their code only works in some browsers so those using Opera for example have an extra 18k JavaScript to download that doesn't even do anything.

I just solved the problem by completely disabling Kontera ads on my computer so that none of the browsers I use will download the 18k script.

I tried to signup for Kontera. However, their terms state:
"2.5. Exclusivity. On all Publisher Websites, Publisher will ensure that Kontera is the exclusive source of any services that are similar to the ContentLink Service for the term of this Agreement."

Does this mean that I have to give up all my Google Adsense ads on my all my websites that will contain Kontera ads?

    This is a good read:

    http://groups.google.com/group/adsen...5a6e637bf3d039

If I were making a heap of money on adsense I would need a cast iron definite email from Google support stating their exact position....

As it is I don't so...

"...AdSense publishers may display ads from other
contextual ad networks on the same page as Google ads only if the
formatting or color scheme of these ads is sufficiently different from
    the
    layout of the Google ads..."

    good news!

but does Kontera allow googleads on page with own ads?

Is Kontera number 1 for this type of contextual ads? Who are their competitors?

I use VibrantMedia and they do quite well. I believe they are a competitor of Kontera.

What do you guys think about the idea of being able to get intext ads without the page slowing and spamminess of Kontera?

We just started alpha testing a new ad tool we built at Triggit where you can use choose which words to make into text ads by highlighting them with your mouse. Do you guys think that would be useful to you?
