    [LAYOUT] Admin Area

    Hello,

Umm... Not often that I'm in this forum so I had to (quickly) review three threads before I could post this thread.

What I would like is your view on the following colour and layout for your typical administration area. Nothing wrong with the way I've done it before, but I've taken a different direction this time around.

I might even stick with it, but I'll wait and see. Thanks for your review, it's appreciated!!

It's fine, as it is only an admin area you shouldn't be too fussed on how it looks.

However, if you want to improve it I suggest you change the text style of the labels and notes on the form objects as it is a little hard to distinguish between them.

Very neat and tidy. As Crazycaddy said; it's only an admin area though.

Design looks ok, as other have said it is back end so design should not be the major concern. I would focus on making sure that you can enter data into the form without have to grab the mouse several times. Users should be able to tab through it with ease and in a logical order the hit enter to submit.

Hey Dr Livingston, this looks great. As the others have said: it's just an admin area, so I wouldn't worry too much about the design.

It's simple and easy to follow, exactly what one would expect from an admin page. You can't really do much else with the page, so it looks great. You've chosen a great layout and a good, simplistic color scheme.

    Hello,

The design is fine and dandy. It's clean, simple and usable.

I would remove your explanations of what to put in the inputs - I think it's unnecessary and adds a little clutter to the page.
Everyone on the planet should know what goes in a input with a label Username or password

Apart from that I would add some more white space just before and after the legends for your fieldsets - assuming it's all semantically marked up

Note: "Please submit this form once only, and avoid using your browsers back button."
May want to clearify a little - how would using my browsers back button resubmit unless I resubmit ???
Designing even the backend sometimes is important - and to be sure visitors understand your directions - maybe 90% know, what about the other 10% - they may be important
    hope this helps

    Ummmm ...

It's nice, and as all of them has told, this is the admin area, so may not be that important to make something eye catching here.

Still, since you have come here asking for something ...

    1. I would probably right align the labels, though it's a personal choice.
    2. For 'please submit once' issue, normally I send a dynamically generated variable (say, user's IP + time() ) while submitting a new entry and check that each time before submitting a new entry, that way, I am independent of users acts. Though that's not a design related issue.

Nice and clean, if were you I'd be looking at how to 'differentiate' the sidebar a bit more. Also since the menu is very short, perhaps some other layouts would save more screen real estate?
