Google Adsense now offering YouTube Video Ads

AdSense isn't just for text and image ads anymore; it's also a place to get video content for your site -- and earn extra revenue at the same time.

Adsense users now have the ability to choose a new medium to display ads, and that is through a YouTube video player that plays the top videos in a random or selected genre of videos. The new player has a your previous ads placed in the player along with ads that appear as the video is being played.

Just like AdSense for content, ads in video units can be either contextually targeted (both to the content of the site and the video) as well as site-targeted to individual websites.

Each video player features standard YouTube video controls, allowing users to play and stop the video at any time. While the video plays, they can click on either overlay or companion ads, and the advertiser's site will open in a new window or tab.

All video units are user-initiated, so they won't be intrusive to your site's visitors. Users also have the option to minimize the overlay ad if they'd prefer.

Video content comes from select YouTube partners who have chosen to make their videos available to publishers in the AdSense network along with targeted advertising.

That sounds pretty cool. I think I will try a sample campaign and see how I do.

I looked at it yesterday. I have to figure out what they mean by some paid ads. It will be interesting to see how well it does. I wonder if you can target the type of videos you want and make a site around them.

That is quite interesting, but I cannot find where I can choose video ads setup? Occasionally I got video ads on my site, so I wonder how they perform.
I would like to put only video ads on one ad position , does anybody know how this can be done ??

Can't say anyone clicked the ad located above the video unit, or even watched the videos for that matter.
Revenue wasn't affected in the least for the couple of weeks I was using it.

Seems like a great idea, but it's still rather ugly no matter how we integrate it.
    Needs more options.

They need to make the sizes more standard. I was looking into it but 400 x 415 (the smallest size) is bigger than anything I want.

I'm interested in hearing from more people who are using it though.

Gave it a shot, made nothing. Afree the ad sizes are too ugly and next to impossible to blend.

    Yep...it's ugly.

I came over here to see if anyone had discovered a pretty solution.

    Doesn't look like it.

I read somewhere that Perez Hilton only made $5k with 25 million video plays.

I make around $0.02 per click.

Wow, are the video units really that bad? Only $5k with 25 million views? I haven't tried the video units yet, but they seem like an interesting concept. It would be neat if they simply added a commercial advertisement before the video plays. Thay way, you got paid for every video viewing!
