liquid nav bar troubles
I am working on a nav bar and I am using transparent pngs, I have a 1 px snippet that I want to extend on either side of the centered nav main image to the ends of the page. The way the snippet is set up right now is at 100% so it covers the width of the page, the problem that I am running into is that there is a darker shadow running behind the main image than there should be. I believe that it might be because the png fades out on top and bottom and when the nav bar extenders are running behind at 100% it causes the gradual fade to become darker in a sense it is like running an overlay and it is darker than it should be (I hope that makes sense). So what I want to do is have the css layers begin at either end of the main image instead of running totally behind the main image. I am just not exactly sure how to set this up in my css.
The site is

the css is
www.themastersinn.com/layout.css
the main image is topnav.png
the side bar background is Navxtension.png

basically the height of the black extender where it meets the logo is the height that the logo should be instead of two separate heights
