Google Dance was in the past used to describe the period that a major index update of the Google search engine are being implemented. These major Google index update occured on average every 36 days or 10 times per year. It was easiest be identified by significant changes in search results, and by an updating of Google's cache of all indexed pages.

According to Matt Cutt's Blog : Google updates its index data, including backlinks and PageRank, continually and continuously....The name "Google Dance" has often been used to describe the index update of the Google search engine. Google's index update occurred on average once per month. During an index update there was significant movement in search results and Google showed new backward links for pages. However, in mid-2003 Google started to update it's index continuously. It appears that, still, there has to be an update of the complete index once in a while and during this time new backward links are shown. But, because of the continuous update, the effects on search results seem to be rather insignificant....

I worked with this company a couple of years ago. They started out as a husband and wife team, and grew to have nearly a hundred employees. They do a lot of link building, data entry, etc. They are located in the Eastern part of India. I haven't worked with them lately, but I remember the owner being a very kind person.
I don't know why he asked a basic question like this either.
