    Question IE6 pushes content down

    hello All

    I have this funky problem where content is getting "pushed down" in IE6. It displays quite well in IE 7 and in FF. The content with the page title and image gets pushed down almost equivalent to the height of the navigation column

    I searched the forums and found two threads that may be the answer:

    http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/showthread.php?t=506507
    http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/showthread.php?t=506459

    but I do not know enough about CSS to debug the problem.

    The link for the CSS is:
    http://www.johnsonhomeandland.com/CSS/JHLStyle.css
    and I have checked the CSS for validation.

    Any advice would be deeply appreciated!

    Replace the following line...

    Code:
    #main {
            width:684px;
            margin-left:150px;
            border: 0;
            background-color:#FFFFF0;
        }
    with this...

    Code:
    #main {
            width:595px;
            margin-left:150px;
            border: 0;
            background-color:#FFFFF0;
        }
    Also, you should safely be able to remove this line style completely...

    Code:
    #wrap > #main {
            width:595px;
        }
    It's a hack and it doesn't look like it's needed.

    Finally, I'd suggest visiting http://validator.w3.org and fixing the errors that it describes. Most aren't huge issues but I'd always make sure that code is valid first as it ensures that the problem lies within the CSS and not within the browser rendering the HTML incorrectly.

    Hope that helps.

    Smile Thanks!

    Appreciate the review of the CSS. It helped fix the push. And the suggestion to also review my HTML and it potential in influencing the display.

    Cheers!
