Care to tell us what kind of blog you would like to make and also what your blogging goals are? We'd be able to give you a better answer by knowing that info.

The most important lesson is to keep at it. A lot of bloggers will get all caught up in 'oh my god, I have a blog!!!' and churn out post after post for say the first week, and then burn out because nobody's visiting and never update again.

Content! Content and more fresh content relevant to your niche! That is why choosing a niche in blogging is very important. The more knowledge you have on a topic, the more likely you would be able to provide great and original content

While good English and sentence construction does help, I have found the most effective way to make a blog is write it as if you are discussing the topic in question with someone else while in a car or a bus - you know, normal conversation. Just let it flow. This way you will get other web users responding and even get a debate going between others who initially replied to your blog.

As everyone has said, content, content, content! These days there are blogs on every subject. The ones that stand out are the ones with the most interesting and frequently updated content. Pretty layouts and fancy plugins are nice, but if your posts don't capture the reader's interest, they'll move on to the next site that looks interestings.

    Content AND Marketing

I agree that content is important.

But marketing also matters. Yes, blogs can just be a creative outlet. But most people write them so that (lots of) people will read them.

The best advice I can give for marketing a blog is to learn from experts:

    copyblogger.com

    Hope this helps.

Except the endless bla-bla-bla about content (which is true) what I think is that surfers/users must see the titles of the last posts (showing the fresh content) and not just categories (important anyway) and months (archives)

It is easy to go hard out at the beginning and blog like crazy! I have been guilty of that myself and did notice the reduction in traffic volume when I slowed down, but I am trying to get in the habit of updating at least twice a week. Also make sure to advertise where your target audience is likely to be. good luck

-The first thing is to choose a beautiful and attractive Theme/Template, wordpress provides the best.
-Host your blog on your own domain; this helps you establish a class in your niche.
-Post original content and post regularly. But not overly so!
-Be less formal in your posts.
    -Post plain simple....
