I would assume it was due to he were building his rating. You see that all the time on minor projects at the various freelance sites.

I am new to freelancer sites! I think freelancer sites are great. Both users and programmers win. I would like to see: better communicate, Fast payment system.

I have used freelancer sites for a few projects .. and with mixed results. For buying coded applications, my problem has always been an inability to define the architecture of the application. I simply don't know enough. If you can somehow get past that hurdle without adding a major cost to the project, I believe you have the makings of a winner.

I remember one project where I had bids of $150 and $6,500.

For sure, a site like you are proposing is needed, IMO.

You might also consider limiting "non preferred" members from bidding on projects beyond a certain $ amount.

As usual, gems from old_expat and very much along the lines I have been thinking. I now need only two more people who use freelance sites as clients rather than as providers and I can get the ball rolling.

Well I'm obviously causing a bit of a stir with this freelance site malarkey. I have now been contacted by four of the other sites asking if I would be prepared to share the results of my survey; cheeky sods. I haven't said no in actual fact I have said yes providing they make a $1000 donation to http://www.sightsavers.org/default.asp haven't had any takers yet but it's early days. The focus group starts in early December and could I appeal to those of you have agreed to help to send me your email addresses because the PM system is capped at 5. I can't wait to get this underway.
