    www.tehupload.com - Please review

I have been working on this for a few weeks now, the purpose of this site was to extend my knowledge of PHP and to learn to use classes to code better.

The website is located at http://www.tehupload.com

Thank you for your feedback in advance, please tell me improvements I can make and features I can add.

Errr... everything's in JavaScript. I had Firefox's NoScript on, and nothing was working. You should make sure your script degrades properly when the JS is turned off.

First off, great job. Nice site. Couple of things that can be improved.

    Design
Nice design, good color scheme, simple and clean appearance. Only problem is some text are too small to read and the color combination for the form elements isn't very good. The text kinda camouflages in the form elements background, which makes it more difficult to read.

    Scripting
There's way too much javascript imo. Ajax is cool and all that but I don't think its very useful when it comes to loading large sections of pages. Consider browser compatibility as well; due to the fact everything is in Ajax, there's no way to utilize the 'back' button on the browser.

Site does not follow HTML standards as well, lots of coding inconsistencies. But I guess that can be worked on eventually.

    Conclusion
Good site, pretty cool service. I do believe there should be some form submission verification procedures to prevent people from spamming.

I changed the font color to black, that should make it MORE readable.
I also took off the AJAX on the page, it was pretty much useless.. just there to present the fading of pages.

My quick responce: Its a great site, and i'd probably use it again for sure. Very clean nice and easy, loved it.

But I dont see you generating many ad clicks when you ads are placed "too nicely" - I love the site becuase its not heavy on ads, but are you going to make any revenue with ads so discreet?

    Good job though.

One of the features that are coming is in the private BETA stage at the moment for our team.

It flows in the same direction as Photobuckets "idea" with albums.

You are limited to 10 albums, with 15 photos per album.

Most of our revenue will come from the purchasing of premium plans to include more albums.

We do not plan to make any "profit" from this, all the money that comes in will be used for the hosting.

It's simple, it's clean, it's easy to use. I like it!

Let me make some points from my SEO perspective.

Title tags that read "Welcome to..." really mean: "Welcome to low rankings." At least change it to "Image Uploads and Picture Uploads | Teh Upload"

On a related note, create individual title tags for each page.

Some instructions on using the site for less technical users and some copy on what makes you guys better would help, imho. If I'm a 60 year old with no clue about this stuff, instructions would be crucial to my using your service.

Needs to be more description of the service you are providing. Took me a while to work out that you can only upload images.

    Lightbulb My comments

i like it, it is not crowded with stuff. Here are some suggestions:

    • After uploading add a link back to the main page or another upload form to make it easy to upload a second (third, etc) image.
    • The ads (Google Ads) at the top could use the same background as the header... maybe thatwill help with conversions.
    • Suggestion: Maybe you can add an option to select image sizes.

So a button at the top titled "Help" and then a short either text/video on how to upload?

There should be one at the bottom of done.php?

Looks cool. Immediate thoughts about the homepage:

    • It says "File details," though if you look closely you can only upload images. At first glance it looks like general file hosting.
    • I don't think the Public/Downloadable dropdowns stand out enough. As it's just yes/no options, why not have radio buttons?
    • A slogan would be nice. Silly little thing, but would make the homepage a bit more personable.

Oh, and the Latest Images / Most Popular pages:

    • I've lost my navigation!
    • The thumbnails aren't real thumbnails, they're the fullsize image resized within the browser. These take longer to download than they should, and browser-based resizing doesn't look nearly as good as doing it in PHP/GD.

    Generally:

    • I've still lost my navigation!
    • I don't what page I'm on. Gimme some page titles.

Seems a nice site all round.
