i'm confused by something. it's reccommended that you not repeat your keywords in the meta tags because search engines penalize you. BUT there's also a reccommendation that you should put different versions of words in Caps, small case and proper case. so my company has a product, called MATLAB. a previous webmaster listed our keywords MATLAB, matlab, etc., etc.... should i remove the duplicate or not?
A couple of repeats in the keywords and description won't hurt but keep to just a couple. The vast majority of people use lower case so use one of each spaced apart from each other by other words.
thanks. that's what i was thinking, but i wanted to ask the experts!
another question on meta keywords: i know certain engines only read so many. therefore i will put my most important ones first, but is there a LIMIT to how many meta keywords you should have?
It's better to limit things to just a few targeted keywords rather than trying to stuff as many as you can in. Stick to 7-8 keywords targeted to the page content and make different pages target different keywords.
