My customer uses firefox in UNIX!
Most of my stuff comes up okay, but I have a drop-down menu that is not correctly aligned.... I have never used UNIX and don't know how to check my stuff. Is there anything special anyone knows of that I can watch out for without being able to test it myself?
Thank you so much for any insight here- I am so bamboozled by this issue! No one told me that one of the main users of the site is a UNIX guy!"Fear Me!" Viking Ninja Kitten

There are a lot more of us than you think, I guess. There are a lot of us out there.
I haven't run Windows in over a year and am on Unix (FreeBSD). I have not found any issues between Firefox on Windows or Unix that I can think of.

Abashed...
I guess you're right-- I kind of think of UNIX users as the secret society of truly computer literate people and the rest of us as those who fake it. Being very conscious of my faking most things that I do on the web, as I am a technical writer who is asked to create web pages, I am always worried that my ignorance will be discovered.

Make sure you declare your font names in lower-case for starters. I've heard from people who frequent the Ubuntu forums that font declarations get ignored when they're capitalized normally (as in "Arial" for example).
I have a friend who develops with *nix in mind frequently. I'll ask him for more information for you.

Ok, he said that other than what I told you, the best you can do really is to actually test on *nix if at all possible. Unfortunately he was pretty vague about it - I must have caught him as he came in or something.

Thank you!
Thanks for trying! My boss says that as that was not a requirement originally, we can make it a low-priority thing. Meanwhile, they are trying to get me up to speed on UNIX... wish me luck!

If a different font is being rendered for whatever reason, that takes up more space (or less for that matter, depending), it will widen (or narrow) a select a bit from what you have seen on Windows - maybe this is pushing things around.
I am not sure if this is what you mean by "alignment".
If you are still having trouble please post a link to the page or all the code involved.
