Hello forum,
I have a big problem to solve:
I'm completely re-styling a site of mine, and I'm building the new site interely using the SSI technique (so the pages are .shtm and not .htm).
If i go to Altavista and I type url:www.mysite.com I receive 75 pages found.
Now, changing all my page names, I'm going to lose all these links from Altavista (and others SE the same).
What you suggest to do?
Thanks,
Nic

keep the .htm files on your server but delete the content and add a meta refresh tag to the corresponding .sht file...

no it's not spam. since the extensions are changing and you are adding a lot of "new" pages then techinially the site has changed enough to consitute a resubmission to the search engines..

Isn't there a command you can put into your .htacess file to allow you to keep your .htm pages instead of being forced to go to .shtm??
Just an idea unless your redesign is going to totally change where everything is at on your site.
