Today was a perfect fall day in the Pacific Northwest - cold and sunny.
    This tree caught my eye:

    I so love fall here!

Fall in the north, so beautiful. In Florida the weather shifts as well, it is a little cooler, but few trees shed their leaves. We have trees that rotate their leaves all year long, so there is never color to them, they just dry and fall down.

There is one exception, the Frangipani tree. It puts out its leaves late spring and drops the leaves now. Those leaves are about 15 inches/ 38 cm long. They turn bright yellow, fall down and dry to a beautiful tobacco color, curl up and provide shelter for our Anoles (little lizards, as you can see in this picture).

Thank you much I love those colors, bitter colors. Those are the colors that were used a lot with purple and fuchsia in the Art Nouveau time, especially in upholstery and carpets, wall papers.

Leaves are so varied, I love them.

Here in Florida we have many different leaves that have color to them, other than green that is. Here is a photo of a Variegated Maho (Sea Hibiscus), the leaves are mainly white with speckles and stripes of green, a pink blush. The young leaves are often bright red, they turn to a rust color later. This shrub grows to enormous proportions and requires heroic pruning.

Most people know this plant as a house plant, the Croton. We have those around here in the gardens, they grow about 8 feet tall. I let our vines grow into them, the blue flower is the Morning Glory, the blue my very favorite one, flirting with purple. The pink flowers are from the Corral Vine.

    Low Sun

As the low sun lit the leaves of a Clerodendron shrub, the violet underside of the leaves stood really out. These leaves are very sculpted, a great subject for the camera.

Yeah, that's what caught my eye. Might have to use that as a color palette someday.

It is a great palette and one of my favorite ones as well. I have painted many pictures in those tones, they just appeal to me. With it a little pale turquoise to cool it and set off the other colors.
