    Good beginner's BOOKS

I'm searching for a good beginner's book for webmasters. I'm NOT in search on code (I got "webmaster in a nutshell") but more on explanation of this list:

    - subdomains, what are they and how they work
    - what is a cron job
    - main features of a SQL base
    - mime types (mamamia ;-)
    - how does a FTP account works
    - apache handlers
    - CPANEL help
    etc.

Everything a webmaster, with a virtual account, should know (for the code I use netobjects ;-)
    Thank you for your responce!

    Hi there,

I think you'll find the answers to these questions more easily on the Internet than anywhere else. For all the how-type questions try using Ask.com. I would say many of your questions are probably answered within tutorial-based books (for code) themselves, but I suppose that is not what you are looking for.

I would agree. Most of that stuff you can learn online better than most. However I think a good sql book is never a wrong way to go. Although I don't have one personaly I sure wish I did when i was working with large table joins.

Subdomains are a network handled thing. You can find tonnes online or in most network mags.

Yep, I've yet to come across a book that covers all the topics you mention (& I'm a book fetishist) - it'll have to be net searches I'm afraid
