    Weekly Photo Challenge - Macro

For those that don't know what macro is, it is basically a good close-up shot. Let's see how close you can get!

The first is a ring of mine, the second a look into a wineglass where the stem connects to the bowl.

Datura - I love that wine glass shot. You think of the coolest things to photograph.

I finally surfaced from some family health issues and realized I had hardly look at the Photography forum these past 2 weeks. But Macro has been my thing lately, so here are my shots.

The first 3 are a series I did to demonstrate depth of field in relation to f-stop. These are all part of an Amarylis that my sister-in-law gave us several years ago.

This first one is at f-stop 2.5 (wide open):

This one is at f-stop 13:

And this is at f-stop 32 (smallest aperture):

The next two are different views of a passion flower. I rarely see them, but San Antonio had loads of rain this summer and hence a lot of colorful flowers. I found these by our vet's office. This flower totally amazes me. What a beautiful creation!

surely -- those close ups are great! I have painted a lot of these hearts of the flowers, they are so intriguing. The passion flower, my favorite blue, not quite purple.

    Rare Shot

This evening I was lucky to corner a little sand crab. The size about 1/2 inch wide from tip of leg to tip of leg. You can see by the grain of the sand how close I got to this glassy sand dweller. These critters are very swift and burrow in the beach sand. They dig deep holes and drag dead stuff down into their houses.

I sure wish I knew! That was in my Grandmothers garden. I'll ask her and let you know.

Nice Warp. I love to go close in, I love images with that kind of detail. The rose almost looks like an exotic creature with those drops on it

I liked the crab. It looks so defenceless and nice. Poor one. Anyone can hurt it.

That is a baby sand crab, like glass they are. They grow to about 3 inches across. Quick as lightening they are, have to be, the seagulls eat them.

So your observation is right, it is very vulnerable out there in the open.
