    Styling Select menus

I am using the background property to change the color that shows inside the Select element. It works OK in Firefox, but in IE there is still a white background 1-2 pixels inside from the border.

You can forget trying to get IE to play ball as far as select styling is concerned - it's not gonna happen.

You could create your own drop down list with a heading and list of links.. But it would lose all semantic meaning for a form and you would have to manually support sending of data with something like AJAX.

This is a very innaccessible method but you could make it look beautiful.. Even in IE

You could try defining a width for the 'li' and 'a href' inside the menu items. It should fix this.
